A Few Bouquets

I really enjoy trying my hand at making bouquets.
I have not taken any classes or had any official training--yet!
I just think it's fun to play around with flowers (surprise, surprise).

These 2 bouquets are from the past month or so.

This first one is a mix of flowers from our local u-pick flower farm and my own garden.
It's one of my better efforts, I think.

I really love those sprays of miniature daisies.
Not only are they cute, they smell like honey!
I need to get online and figure out what variety they are.

Here's another attempt:

This one was all flowers from my flowerbeds and garden.

I don't like it nearly as much.
I think I've got too many of the smaller types of flowers in there, to the point where it looks a bit weedy. The colors are fine, though.

Next time I would do 3 or 4 stems of the hydrangea, and maybe just pick 1 type of the smaller filler flowers. I am excited to try all the "recipes" in The Flower Recipe Book.
I expect to learn a lot from it.

Have you made any bouquets lately?
Do share!

  2. First off, these are lovely! I can only "dream" of having a cutting garden some day. Second off, I'm totally intrigued by the idea of a u-pick flower farm. Is this a thing? What are prices generally like (more or less than flower-shop/grocery store flowers)? It sounds amazing, I would love to find one in my area.

    1. Thank you! This is the first place we've lived that has had a u-pick flower farm, but I love it. It's quite a bit cheaper than buying flowers or ready-made bouquets. The one here charges $8 for all you can stuff into a cutaway gallon jug. We usually come home with enough flowers for 4-5 bouquets!
